Goatless Still

For those of you who are unaware, Goat has gone away for the week with the school, leaving me to fend for myself. A doddle I hear you cry. But is it tho?

My first shopping excursion without Goat was confusing and difficult. I made it all the way to the trolley bays near the front door of our local Teskies, before the first hurdle popped up. As usual I grabbed a large trolley and started wheeling this towards the entrance, halfway there I realised I had no requirement for a large trolley, as this was going to be an economical shop rather than a large shop, and put the trolley back. Instead I snatched up a basket.

However, something about the tiny-ness of this vessel struck an ominous chord and I remembered that I needed to pick up a bag of cat litter along with whatever junk food I decided on for the week. Therefore the basket was disregarded and a small trolley was finally implemented.

Of course some things never change and the trollette and I struggled with each other all the way around the store; me wanting to go one way, towards the important stuff like food and alcohol and the trollette wanting to browse through the cheap CDs and DVDs incase it spotted a bargain. It even took me on a slow pass of the mobile phones (it's arguement being that I should have a look as my phone was dying and I needed a new one) which of course I turned my nose up at - I wasn't there for trivialities; I was there for life sustaining necessities.

Eventually we made it to the food section of the supermarket, via a strangely habitual tour of the clothes department (I think Goat may be right about these trolley's being brainwashed into auitomatically heading that way - I saw one poor chap make the mistake of leading his trolley away from the clothes department and the poor thing started rocking backwards and forwards on it's three good wheels, squealing uncontrolably!)

Even the trollette misses Goat.
