Beauty

Inspired by '52 Weekend Projects' (and a lack of funds) I have made a beauty dish. I deviated from the instructions for securing the end cap (I just couldn't bring myself to use wire/fishing line) and opted instead for a more sturdy solution; 75mm size 4 bolts and accompanying nuts. I also opted for a white finish over silver or gold for a softer light. I will post the results following this weekends shoots, but preliminary testing has proved extremely positive.

34 - Snoot

I am very proud of myself; I have just made my very first 'Snoot'. It is simply crafted out of cardboard and duct tape and superglue. Hurrah!

Brave

For our 3rd wedding anniversary my lovely wife has bought me a medium format camera. This is something I have wanted for at least 10 years since I first started talking to Tim Fagan about them and the advantages medium and large format cameras have over 35mm for landscape photography. The only problem I face now is finding the courage to commit an image to the first of the 12 6x6cm exposures I get per film. Scary stuff. There's no select and delete function on this camera. For that matter is has no WB, function settings, autofocus, LCD, or IS. It is what it is.

It is what they call a 'Toy Camera', it is wonderfully primative and it will present me with the opportunity to shoot quality rather than quantity. Having said that, my wife has wisely bought me 5 films to go with it!

So happy anniversary wife, here's to a happy three years and the next three with you and Ruby standing patiently by whilst I take ages to compose my next masterpiece. You know it will be worth it. :o)
